Gender- Based Violence & Recovery Centre (GBVRC)

The Gender Based Violence and Recovery Center was established in 2007 as a partnership between ICRHK and Coast general hospital. The center has received support from DANIDA, personal contributions from Prof. Marleen Temmerman, UNFPA, CPGH and Mombasa County.

Since 2007, the GBVRC has provided clinical, psychological and legal help to over 7,000 victims, most of them less than 18 years of age. In 2016, the center received the label of UNESCO Chair of Sexual Health and Human Rights from University Paris Diderot.

To Present the award was the Mombasa County Deputy Governor, the County Chief of Health, UNFPA Country Rep, a representative from UNESCO, ICRH Country Director, Prof. Temmerman, CPGH Board and staff, ICRH board and staff and various key stakeholders.
